Laura Mary Rodgers Bixel, of Warsaw, passed away surrounded by close friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the age of 84.
The daughter of George and Mary Sherman Rodgers, she was born on March 9, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa.
On May 12, 1963, in Warsaw, Laura married Donald O. Bixel and spent 49 years together until his passing in 2013. After graduating from Warsaw High School in 1958, she worked as a secretary for Lake City Bank for 40 years.
Laura was an active member in her community and generously volunteered her time. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Warsaw Chapter, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, First United Methodist, where she attended many bible studies and WOW – Winning Over Widowhood.
Laura also loved to travel to the Senior Saints in the Smoky Mountains and on bus trips across the country. She also enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens and joining her friend, Velma, for lunch every Saturday.
Laura is survived by several cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with Laura’s care. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 10 at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw, at 10 a.m. An Eastern Star Service will begin at noon with the funeral service immediately following with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Titus Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
