Two cats did not survive a Warsaw house fire Saturday morning, while three other cats and a rabbit were removed.
According to Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Chief Joel Shilling, the fire department was dispatched at 6:48 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 to 515 N. Columbia St. A passerby had called the fire in and the homeowners were out of town, he said.
While the two cats unfortunately did not survive, no one else was injured from the fire.
The fire was brought under control at 7:35 a.m., and fire officials remained on scene until 10:30 a.m.
Warsaw was assisted by Winona Lake Fire Department, Plain Township (Leesburg) Fire, Lutheran EMS and Warsaw Police Department.
County records indicate the home is owned by Jesel Aaron and Jessica E. Sepko.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
