Local High School Sports Recaps For Thursday, August 31

Volleyball
Manchester at Bluffton

Manchester volleyball found itself engaged in a hard fought battle with Bluffton Thursday evening, ultimately falling in five sets, 3-2 (19-25, 27-25, 25-21, 18-25, 10-15). The Lady Squires are now 4-5 this season.
Two Manchester players finished in double digit kills: McKelvey Espeset with eleven and Olivia Davis with 10. Elizabeth Renz had five aces for the Lady Squires, while Peyton Ream led the team in digs with 23 and assists with 38.
Manchester will compete at the Garrett Invite on Saturday.
Triton at Culver Community
A great week for Triton volleyball got even better on Thursday night, as the Lady Trojans won their third game in as many days, defeating Culver Community 3-2 (25-15, 18-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11) on the road. Triton has won five games in a row and is now 6-1, 2-0 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
Once again, Addyson Viers was everywhere for the Lady Trojans, leading the team in kills with 22 and digs with 25. Lena Doll had 15 kills while Hannah Snyder had 37 assists and Avery Viers added five blocks.
Triton continues conference play Tuesday evening at home against North Judson.
Boys Soccer
Tippecanoe Valley at Maconaquah

Tippecanoe Valley boys soccer suffered its first loss of the season Thursday evening, falling 1-0 in a hard-fought game against Maconaquah. The Vikings are now 2-1-1 this season.
Valley will attempt to get back into the win column on the road Saturday against future conference rival John Glenn.
Manchester at Columbia City
Manchester battled hard but was unable to come away with a win against Columbia City Thursday night, falling 2-0 on the road. The Squires are now 3-2-1 this fall.
Evan McLaughlin had a very busy day in net, making 14 saves. Tyler McLain attempted six shots on goal but was unable to find the back of the net. Manchester will try to pick up a win Tuesday evening against conference foe Rochester.
Argos at Lakeland Christian
Lakeland Christian went down early and tried to battle back, but was unable to do so in a 3-1 loss to Argos Thursday evening. The Cougars are now 2-4 this season.
The lone Lakeland Christian goal was scored by Jorge Gerber in the 68th minute on an assist from Aiden Yoder. Braden Weirick made eleven saves in goal.
LCA plays on the road at Central Noble Saturday.
Girls Soccer
Homestead at Warsaw

Warsaw girls soccer earned its most impressive win of the season to this point on Thursday night, upsetting No. 9 Homestead 4-3. The Lady Tigers are now 2-2-2 this fall.
Lola Pepper led the charge in Warsaw’s first win over Homestead since 2017, scoring two of her team’s four goals. Natalie Brown and Haidyn Elliot sealed the deal with a goal each.
The Lady Tigers resume conference play on Saturday against NorthWood.
Marion at Tippecanoe Valley
Tippecanoe Valley is still searching for its first win of the season after falling 3-0 to Marion at home on Thursday. The Lady Vikings are now 0-4 this season. Valley will have another chance to secure a victory on Tuesday against Peru.
Huntington North at Manchester
Manchester was unable to pick up a victory at home Thursday night, falling 3-1 to visiting Huntington North. The Lady Squires are now 4-3 this season.
The lone Manchester goal was scored by Campbell Bolinger. Hanna Stout had the assist. Grace Smith made 13 saves in goal for her team.
The Lady Squires return to conference play on Tuesday against Wabash.
Girls Golf
Mishawaka at Warsaw

Warsaw girls golf earned yet another win on Thursday, this time against a shorthanded Mishawaka team. The Lady Tigers scored a 165, while the visitors did not have enough competitors to qualify for scoring. Warsaw is now 10-3, 6-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
Olivia Robinson-Gay topped the leaderboard this time with a 35, and following her closely once again was Abbey Peterson with a 36. Abigail Davis shot a 42 to round out the Lady Tiger top three.
Warsaw will compete at the Carroll Invitational on Saturday.
Triton/Caston at North Miami
The Triton girls golf team shot a 246 in a three-way match against Caston and North Miami Thursday, finishing in second place. Chloe McKinney paced the Lady Trojans once again by shooting a 50. Brooke Kitch took second on the Triton tea with a 60. Cheyenne Hawley rounded out the top three with a 67.
Triton will compete at North Judson on Tuesday.
Boys Tennis
Warsaw at Plymouth

Warsaw boys tennis picked up its first win of the season on Thursday, defeating conference rival Plymouth 4-1 on the road.
No. 1 singles competitor Charlie Norton was absolutely dominant in his match, winning 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 and No. 3 singles players Ted Grandon and Henry Norton each earned straight set victories as well. The No. 2 doubles pairing of Drew Ryser and Khareus Miller won 6-1, 6-2 to round it out for Warsaw.
The Tigers play their next match Monday at home against Northridge.
