The Lady Lancers stayed close throughout the night, keeping each set within five points.
Cassadi Colbert led Grace’s offensive attack with 13 kills and Riley Owens assisted on 33 points.
The teams traded points to open the contest before the Trojans strung together a trio of rallies to pull ahead 7-4.
Jadyn Ross added a pair of kills that helped the Lady Lancers fuel a run of their own as they vaulted into a two-point lead.
Taylor seemed to have the set within their grasp after a 9-3 run put them at set point. Grace withstood three set points before finally faltering and dropping the first set 25-22.
The second set followed much of the same script as the first, but this time it was Grace jumping out to the early advantage. Ross and Paige Vander Goot each contributed a service ace as Grace built a 6-3 lead.
The Trojans' strong attack quickly flipped momentum, as eight-straight points from Taylor put the Lady Lancers at a six-point disadvantage.
A well used timeout from Grace helped stem the Trojans run and a Colbert hit through Taylor's block as the Lady Lancers began to chip away at the margin.
Owens set up Liz Schmidt for a kill that pulled Grace to just a one-point deficit at 17-18, but they could get no closer.
The Trojans scored six of the next seven points and prevailed for a 25-20 set two victory.
Sahara Bee started the third set with a kill, setting the tone early for Grace. Livia Tate added a kill and Ross got her second service ace of the game to put the Lady Lancers ahead 9-3.
Taylor did not panic however and tied it at 12 apiece, after a run of points that was only interrupted by a trio of kills from Colbert.
Grace and Taylor traded blows down the stretch, but ever so slightly the Trojans eked ahead.
Colbert and Bee each had kills late, but it was not enough to stave off a 25-21 loss.
Grace and Taylor tied for kills in the game with each squad registering 37. The Lady lancers hit at .196 clip while the Trojans converted at .267.
Schmidt and Ross were both efficient from the field hitting at a percentage north of .4000.
Grace will take a break from conference action as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take part in the Grand View Tournament this weekend.
