A Goshen man was arrested for allegedly stealing cash and clothes from a friend who gave him a place to stay.

David Lee Oxford, 41, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:23 p.m. Wednesday for theft, a Level 6 felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Aug. 29 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, Kosciusko County Sheriff deputies spoke to a man on March 15 who said he let Oxford stay at his residence for approximately three weeks. Oxford left March 14, and that is when the man noticed $8,000 in cash had been stolen, along with some BKE brand clothing.

On March 16, according to court papers, Oxford was arrested on an active warrant by Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. Those officers found $4,000 cash on Oxford, who also was wearing BKE brand pants. The victim identified the pants as his.

Oxford is being held on a $7,000 bond.
