James P. Berner Jr., age 58, of Pierceton, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at 12:18 p.m. in Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw.

James was born on Jan. 1, 1961, in Warsaw, to James P. and Paula Ann Smith Berner Sr. He was united in marriage to Sharon DeVille on Sept. 10, 2016, at Ridinger Lake in Kosciusko County Indiana.

James lived his lifetime as a resident in Pierceton. He worked as a machinist for Paragon Medical Inc., Pierceton, for 20 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #258 in Pierceton and the Sons of the American Legion.

James is survived by Sharon Berner, of Pierceton; children: Laura (Jeremiah) Tucker, of Columbia City; James P. Berner III, of Warsaw; Tyler Berner, of Claypool; stepchildren: Sarah (Dewey) Reimer, of Pierceton; Brian Stratton, of Warsaw; Stephanie (Zachary) Lee, of Pierceton; father, James P. (Marilyn) Berner, of Warsaw; brother, Michael (Katie D’Alessio) Berner, of Glendale, Ariz.; sister, Susan (Loren) Burch, of Warsaw. In addition, he is survived by 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother and great-grandson, Tatum Berner.

A visitation will be held from  5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is entrusted with his care.
