Western square dance lessons are being offered by the Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club beginning in October.

The lessons will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sundays in the Scout Hall, Warvel Park, Seventh and Market streets, North Manchester.

Classes will be open for beginners on Oct. 1, 8 and 22.  (The club’s regularly scheduled dance is on Oct. 15.) The first lesson is free; cost is $3 per person after that.

Jerry Davidson, club caller, will be the instructor.

Square dance lessons are open to beginners only once a year.

Square dancing burns calories, strengthens bones and the cardiovascular system, and exercises the brain. It is also an opportunity to develop new friendships.

Questions can be directed to Allen and Ellen Fisher, who serve as the club presidents: 260-519-0761; or Rita Schroll, club secretary: [email protected] or 260-982-2814.
