Steven W. “Steve” Solina, 68, Syracuse, passed away at 4:44 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Mason Health & Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. 

He was born Sept. 30, 1948, in South Charleston, W.Va., to Bernard Homer and Margaret E. Chapman Solina.

He grew up in West Virginia and attended St. Albans (W.Va.) High School. He moved to the Syracuse area in September 1968 from West Virginia and was married on Jan. 11, 1969, in Syracuse, to Connie L. Brown, who survives. 

He retired in 2010 from Kinro Inc., Syracuse, after 15-plus years and was a lifetime salesman for the RV industry.

He was a member of Maxwelton Golf Club, Syracuse. His greatest passion in life was the love for his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Solina, Winona Lake; two daughters, Candice (Joseph) Salvo, Syracuse, and Kelli (Jason) Gambrel, North Vernon; a son, Chris Solina, Milford; seven grandchildren: Delaney, Elijah, Margaret, Evan, Emma, Grace and Brock; a sister, Lisa (David) Hampton, Goshen; and a brother, Rod (Monica) Solina, Goshen

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of a traditional funeral service, the family has decided to honor Steve with a celebration of life gathering from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Blue Barn Berry Farm, 9139 N. 300E, Syracuse. 

Private burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery at a later date. 

Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
