Syracuse Fire Ruled Electrical

SYRACUSE – The Turkey Creek Fire Territory in Syracuse responded to a report of a possible house fire at 3:49 a.m. today.
The home is owned by  Jeff and Peggy Guyas, 11940 N. CR 450E, Syracuse.
Two occupants that had been in the structure at the time of the fire were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by Turkey Creek EMS. Neither were transported to the hospital by EMS.
There were no other reported injuries to occupants or firefighters.
Upon arrival of the first fire officer, all occupants had exited the structure with heavy smoke noted on the east side of the structure, according to a press release from the fire territory.
The fire was brought under control at 4:18 a.m.
Damage is estimated at between $30,000 and $50,000. There was extensive smoke damage throughout the structure.
The Kosciusko County Investigation Team Squad 70 was called in order to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The fire has been ruled as electrical in nature with combustible materials stored nearby.
1-800-Board Up was called in to secure a few windows of the residence.
The Turkey Creek Fire Territory also was assisted at the scene by the Benton Township Fire Department, the North Webster Fire Department and the Milford Fire Department.
Fire and EMS units remained on the scene until 7:28 a.m.
