Lewis Farmer and Jennie Payne Gravis of Davidson, N.C., and formerly of Warsaw, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 18, 2011.

They were married Nov. 18, 1961, in Ogden Dunes Presbyterian Church.

Lew retired after 32 years in the printing business. He served as governor of the State of Indiana for the Optimist Club in 1985-86. He also served as lieutenant governor for the state and president of the local Optimist Club. He is a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. 

Jennie taught 30 years in Indiana and North Carolina schools. She served as president of Tri Kappa Sorority and American Association of University Women. She is a member of the Davidson First Methodist Church and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. 

The couple have four children: Lewis P. (and spouse Tammy) Gravis, Fayetteville, N.C.; Melissa Gravis (and spouse Tom) Waikel, Milford; Heather Gravis Riley, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Robert Gravis, Boston, Mass.; and 14 grandchildren.

The couple, along with 20 members of their family, will celebrate with a seven-night Western Caribbean Cruise.[[In-content Ad]]
