Jack and Janet Elam, 1425 Sunset Drive, Winona Lake, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary April 29, 2012.

Jack and the former Janet Hamilton were married April 29, 1952, in Greenfield, by the Rev. Avery Miley of Greenfield Christian Church.

Jack became semi-retired in 1984 from Thunander Corp., Elkhart, where he was the national sales manager. Since that time he worked in several different places. He was historical research chairman when Syracuse celebrated its sesquicentennial. He served as vice presidende of the Syracuse Library board for eight years. He worked at The Papers Inc. and was one of three who started and promoted the Senior Life publcation. He served a short time on the Syracuse Park Board before moving to Winona Lake. He served as director of the Old Jail Museum and retired again in November.

After their move from New Castle to Syracuse in 1963, Janet worked at Syracuse Auto License Branch. Later she worked in the new Warsaw High School in 1968. She was the bookkeeper and treasurer of the high school for 27 years and was a homemaker and mother.

The couple have two children, Joe, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Beth, Wakarusa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The couple have been invited to spend time with their son for their celebration.
