City Request

First of all I would like to publicly thank all of the many concerned Warsaw citizens who stopped me at Wal-Mart and told me that they are on my side on how the city, Warsaw, is treating me. All of them told me that the city should take care of its police and firemen who are injured in the line of duty.
I would like to really thank Faith Heisler on her heart-felt letter on Sept. 7 in response to my first letter. She reminded everyone that we have parades and memorials for all of my fellow police officers, and the firemen of New York that gave their lives on 9/11.
While researching for my Board of Works meetings I found out my family would have been taken care of financially if I would have died on that Thanksgiving Day in 1987.
I lived and fought hard to live to raise my three children and see my seven grandchildren come into this world.
The only thing in place for a sergeant that was permanently disabled in the line of duty is a small pension from the Police and Fireman Pension Fund.
I will keep trying to get the City of Warsaw to make a policy that covers police and firemen that are disabled in the line of duty just as I am.
I feel that all of the citizens of Warsaw care how their police and firemen are cared for after protecting and serving them. If you are concerned, please contact your city councilmen that were elected to represent you in doing the city's business.
Caring for your police and fireman who put their lives on the line everyday for the city is not just the right thing to do, but a simple thing to do.
