Stealing is frowned upon in the Bible, but two Warsaw women disregarded that commandment and now face charges of theft.
Lesley Crawford, 45, of 4124 N. Allen Lane, Warsaw, and Mindy Yeazel, 39, of 219 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, were arrested Thursday for theft, a level six felony.
On Jan. 19, the two women visited North Webster Church, according to the probable cause affidavit provided by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. Yeazel, under the alias Mindy Ditton, allegedly filled out an application for assistance from the church. After they left, multiple items were reported missing.
One employee told Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department that his Carhart Extreme jacket and black duffel bag had been stolen. The coat held a bank envelope containing $300, a one-touch blood meter, two pairs of gloves and a hat. The bag contained a shirt, a pair of jeans and an Apple iPod. Two other employees reported their coats stolen, one leather jacket and one Calvin Klein coat. The stolen property was valued at approximately $1,820, the report states.
KCSD contacted Yeazel, who allegedly admitted to taking the coats and duffel bag. She returned two of the coats and their belongings, minus most of the cash. Crawford had possession of the duffel bag and its contents. She told police that she burnt the duffel bag and its contents and put the leather jacket in a Goodwill donation box.
Both were arrested and booked into Kosciusko County Jail on $6,500 bonds.[[In-content Ad]]
