Warsaw Boys Golf Finishes 13th At IHSAA State Finals

The 2023-24 sports season for Kosciusko County teams came to an end Wednesday afternoon, as Warsaw boys golf finished competition at the IHSAA Boys Golf State Finals at Prairie View Golf Course in Carmel, the final event of the year. The Tigers ended the tournament in 13th place with a +77 over two days of play, four strokes behind 12th place Floyd Central and eleven strokes in front of 14th place Chesterton. Zionsville won the tournament with a +24, five strikes ahead of second place Westfield, and six ahead of third place Hamilton Southeastern.

Warsaw Competes At State Golf Finals, Tied For 12th

With the first day of the IHSAA Boys Golf State Finals in the books from Prairie View Golf Course in Carmel, it was a solid opening round for the Warsaw Tigers, who used a first place finish in their sectional as well as a second place finish in regionals to earn a spot in the final tournament of the year. Warsaw ended day one tied with Trinity for 12th place overall with a team score of +37. In first place currently is Zionsville with a +16. The Tigers are currently eight strokes behind Bloomington South as the team eyes a top-10 finish.

Lind Falls In Quarterfinals Of Tennis State Finals

While the IHSAA team state tournament for tennis ended last weekend, the state individual tournament rolled on into Friday afternoon, with the quarterfinals for the singles tournament taking place at North Central High School in Indy. Representing Kosciusko County was Warsaw junior Addison Lind and her 27-0 record. She took on North Lawrence senior Isabelle May, who came in at 19-0. In what was a grueling, exhilarating and incredibly tight match, May ended up victorious with a 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) win.

Warsaw Golf Finishes Second At Regional, Will Head To State

It was another great day for the Warsaw golf team, as the Tigers were able to secure a second place finish Thursday morning at their home regional at Stonehenge Golf Club. The top-three finish advances Warsaw through another round of the state tournament and into the state finals next week. The Tigers’ score of 310 was 16 shots ahead of both Bishop Dwenger and Fairfield, as both schools finished tied for fourth. Ahead of Warsaw and also advancing to state was first place Homestead (300) and right behind the Tigers were second place Leo.

Parker Hired As New Tippecanoe Valley Girls Basketball Coach

A special board meeting was held Tuesday morning at Tippecanoe Valley High School. Only one matter was on the agenda: the hiring of a new girls basketball head coach.

Warsaw Takes First At Boys Golf Sectional Tournament

With six local teams competing at the IHSAA Boys Golf Sectional at Eagle Glen Golf Course in Columbia City Monday morning and afternoon, the day was filled with local athletes staking their claim to advance further into the state tournament. When the dust settled, it was host school Warsaw that won the meet with a team score of 311 to advance to the regionals, the only school in the area to send a team one step closer to state. Wawasee finished sixth (343), Tippecanoe Valley seventh (356), Manchester eighth (370), Triton ninth (385) and Whitko tenth (433). Plymouth (324) and Huntington North (333) were the two other teams to advance with second and third place finishes.

Four Athletes Pick Up Top-Five Finishes At Track And Field Finals

A handful of local athletes were able to earn top-10 finishes on Friday and Saturday in the boys and girls IHSAA Track and Field State Finals at Indiana University in Bloomington. In the girls' meet, Whitko finished 21st with eleven points, Warsaw took 32nd with eight, Wawasee 39th with seven and Triton 67th with one. Tippecanoe Valley had competing athletes but did not score. For the boys, Warsaw finished 32nd with eight points once again, while athletes from Tippecanoe Valley competed but did not score.

Lady Tiger Rugby Takes Home State Championship

Monday was a day to remember for the Warsaw Lady Tiger Rugby Program, pictured above after defeating Carroll 43-5 to win the IHSAA State Rugby Championship.

Warsaw Falls To Northridge 7-0 In Sectional Opener

With two wins over Northridge in the regular season already under their belt, the Northern Lakes Conference champions Warsaw Tigers needed to get a third one on Thursday night to keep their season alive in the first round of the IHSAA 4A baseball sectional at Penn High School. The Tigers were unable to get much going offensively, falling in the first round of the playoffs, 7-0 to the Raiders.
