SOUTH WHITLEY – At Tuesday's meeting, the South Whitley Town Council approved a $77,900 quote for a 2016 used Freightliner utility truck.
Utilities Superintendent Kent Slater said this truck will replace the other line truck, which was purchased new in 1998 and can no longer be repaired.
Council discussed future street work with DLZ, pending additional funding from Community Crossings grants. An executive session will be Jan. 23 at 4:30 p.m. to further discuss plans for work on Mulberry, Main and other streets.
In her report, Clerk-treasurer Alyssa Knepple said she is working with Jeff Rowe of Baker-Tilly to start on a rate study for all of the town's utilities.
In other business, the council:
• Approved allowing DLZ to complete Community Crossings Grant applications and allowing Council President Brock Waterson to sign them.
• Heard Dave Warner's resignation from the Park Board, which needs members.
• Heard Town Marshal Mikel Vandevender's request for an additional portable radio so the department will have a spare.
Council will next meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28.
