Sidney Town Council Discusses 2025 Updates

SIDNEY — Sidney Town Council discussed updates for the new year at a meeting Monday.
The council discussed the new requirement for town councils to stream video and audio of their meetings starting on July 1. Council will look at purchasing a device. It will also take storage methods into consideration. Purchases under $500 do not require a formal bidding process. Currently, the council records the audio of meetings only.
In other business, the council:
• Successfully renewed its sewer permit.
• Renewed its contract with Joe Calhoun for maintenance.
• Signed an agreement with Jim Bumbaugh for the police department.
• Announced the council will receive $15,000 grant from the Kosciusko Community Foundation for payment to Michiana Area Council of Governments for strategic planning.
• Stated the previous Community Crossings Matching Grant was approved and another decision is coming up.
• Provided an update that the town attorney was not having luck getting ahold of anyone about the Harney house.
The next Sidney Town Council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Jackson Township Fire Station.
