Local High School Sports Recaps For Tuesday, September 3

Volleyball
Warsaw at Mishawaka

Warsaw volleyball picked up its sixth win in a row as well as its conference opener Tuesday night, defeating Mishawaka 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 28-26) on the road. The Lady Tigers are now 9-4 this season, 1-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
Maggie Hollon had 13 kills while CeCe Goode had 10. Goode also led the team in digs with 15. Madison Branam had 17 assists. Reagan Edwards added a block.
Warsaw is in action Thursday night at Goshen.
Wawasee at Manchester
Manchester picked up a big nonconference win Tuesday evening, defeating Wawasee 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 30-28) at home. The Lady Squires improve to 7-2 this season while Wawasee falls to 3-4.
Elizabeth Renz led the home side with 14 kills. Hadley West had 10 digs while Myla Crozier and Peyton Ream each had eight. Ream had 19 assists.
Manchester hosts Bluffton Thursday night, while Wawasee takes on Plymouth at home.
Triton at North Miami
It took five sets, but Triton defeated North Miami 3-2 (21-25, 17-25, 25-19, 27-25, 15-11) on the road Tuesday night. The Lady Trojans are now 8-1 this season.
The win was the 100th of head coach Derek Eveland’s career. Mya Davis had 30 kills, while Clara Doll had 30 assists. Davis also had six aces. Sierra Hawley had 14 digs.
Triton hosts Culver Community Thursday night.
Boys Soccer
Wawasee at Mishawaka

Wawasee began conference play with a 3-0 win over Mishawaka Tuesday evening. The Warriors are now 1-3-1 this season, 1-0 in the NLC.
Mattia Melli opened up the scoring with a header off of a corner kick. He also scored the second goal of the game to pick up a brace. Quentin Taylor scored the third goal of the game to finish things off.
Wawasee takes on Lakeland Christian Thursday evening.
Tippecanoe Valley at Manchester
Manchester picked up a big win against a former conference opponent Tuesday, defeating Tippecanoe Valley 4-0 at home. The Squires are now 4-2-1 this fall, while Valley falls to 1-3.
Caleb Sautter scored two goals and added an assist. Isaiah Acosta also added a goal and an assist. The fourth Manchester goal came off the boot of Jayden Jimenez.
Manchester hosts Columbia City Thursday night while Valley plays John Glenn at home.
Lakeland Christian at Winamac
Lakeland Christian’s offense exploded Tuesday afternoon, defeating Winamac 9-0 on the road. The Cougars are now 3-3 this season.
It was a big day for both Zaiden Miller and Jashawn Zielasko, as Miller scored three goals while Zielasko added four. Braden Weirick and Harry Steger also scored as well.
LCA takes on Wawasee at home Thursday evening.
Girls Soccer
Manchester at Northwestern

Manchester opened up conference play with a loss Tuesday evening, losing 2-0 to Northwestern on the road. The Lady Squires are now 1-5 this fall.
Manchester is on the road at Huntington North Thursday.
Boys Tennis
Goshen at Warsaw

Warsaw dropped a conference game to Goshen Tuesday afternoon, falling 3-2 at home.
The first of two Tiger wins came from No. 1 singles player Charlie Norton, who won 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Drew Ryser and Henry Norton won 6-4, 2-6, 6-0.
Warsaw hosts Plymouth Thursday.
Whitko at Wawasee
Wawasee put together a dominant performance Tuesday afternoon, defeating Whitko 5-0.
No. 1 singles player Joey Harper won 6-1, 6-1, while No. 2 Pablo Mor Chocos won 6-0, 6-0. No. 3 Austin Harney won by forfeit. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Kane Dukes and Evan Byler, as well as the No. 2 duo of Brayden Miller and Dane Cripe each won 6-0, 6-0.
Wawasee plays at Concord Thursday while Whitko travels to Triton.
Girls Golf
Wawasee/Concord at Warsaw

Warsaw held its senior night Tuesday evening, doing so in fashion with a win (175) over Concord (204) and Wawasee (229)
Abbey Peterson led the way once again with a 39. Addisyn Aylor shot a 41. Claire Ruest shot a 47, Lucy Ray had a 48 and Lily Henderson shot a 50.
