A special board meeting was held Tuesday morning at Tippecanoe Valley High School. Only one matter was on the agenda: the hiring of a new girls basketball head coach.
The choice is one that Valley fans will know the name of well. Former Lady Viking stand out and University of Evansville co-captain Rebekah Parker is heading back to her alma mater to serve at the helm of the varsity girls basketball team.
Formerly the head coach of the junior varsity team from 2017 to 2019, Parker had previously held coaching stints as the assistant varsity coach at Plymouth as well as an assistant coach at the University of Toledo. Parker also spent three seasons as a professional basketball player in Europe.
“Rebekah has a proven track record of being a successful coach and player. Her resume speaks for herself on the coaching side, but I am confident she will get girls excited to play and build our youth programs. We are excited to welcome her back to Tippecanoe Valley where she left her mark as a student-athlete and now she has the opportunity to do so as our Head Coach” said Sam Sturtevant, Tippecanoe Valley Athletic Director.
