Patricia K. Johnston, 70, Warsaw, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 20, 2016, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.  She was born June 1, 1946, to Milo W. and Edna Poirson Lightfoot in Marion. On April 20, 1963, in Pierceton, she was united in marriage to Paul Johnston, who survives in Warsaw.

June Marie Vanator,

June Marie Vanator, 84, formerly of Leesburg, died Sept. 11, 2016, at DeKalb Health, Auburn. She was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Indianapolis, to Larry H. and Violet Little Gommadinger. On June 12, 1982, in Clunette, she married Richard M. Vanator, who died June 15, 1997.

Harry “Jim” Boggs, 87, Warsaw, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones at 8:50 p.m. Sept. 15, 2016, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.  He was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Chicago, to Helen Claire Dale Boggs and Harry Weber, and welcomed by his older sisters Betty and Nancy. The family later made its home on a farm south of Warsaw, where Jim developed a strong work ethic.

Lady Spartan Tennis Pushes To 4-0 In Conference With Sweep

Junior Erin Cordill and sophomore Mariam Aly each upped their singles’ win strings to four, and the doubles’ pairings of Aly and Cordill and seniors Alaina Beckner and Adriana Brown did likewise, leading Manchester University to a fourth successive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference dual victory Wednesday  with a 9-0 win over Definace College.

HS Roundup: Whitko Runners Finish 1-2 In Races Against Rochester

Whitko freshman Sarah Walters and senior Hanna Yohe finished 1-2 in a girls cross country race Wednesday at Whitko Middle School, but Rochester earned the Three Rivers Conference win, 25-33, over the Lady Wildcats. Walters, fellow freshman Amanda Leppek, and exchange student Manon Sonneville all set personal-best times, while Yohe, sophomore Elizabeth Foutz, and junior Angel Moyer all set season-best times.
