Dr. William Parke died at home on November 5, 2016.  William Parke was born April 4, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to Palmer and Alice (nee Clark) Parke. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1963 and married Mary Eva (Molly) Nesbitt that same year. 

Mabel Hilda ‘Micky’ Kurtaneck

Mabel Hilda "Micky" Kurtaneck, 91, Winona Lake, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 5, 2016, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.  She was born June 8, 1925, in Derby, England, to James Frederick and Hilda Frost Walmsley. On Aug. 26, 1944, she was married to Nickolas Kurtaneck, who passed away in 2009.

Lorene F. Lehman Stookey, 89, Leesburg, left Kosciusko Community Hospital to be with The Lord on Thursday evening, Nov. 3, 2016. She was born June 16, 1927, in Kosciusko County, the daughter of George Leroy and Christine Kammerer Lehman. She graduated from Leesburg High School the same year as her husband-to-be, Martin E. Stookey, and they were joined together in holy matrimony on May 29, 1948.

Wawasee Falls In Opener

Wawasee senior Aubrey Schmeltz had 14 points in the Lady Warriors’ 43-32 loss at Mishawaka Marian in the girls basketball season-opening game for both schools. After trailing by six after the first quarter, Wawasee came back to tie the game at 19 at halftime. Marian took a two-point lead in to the fourth quarter, and outscored the Lady Warriors 13-4 in the final period.
