 Hilda S. Earnhart, 98, Syracuse, formerly of Pierceton, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.  She was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Wilmot, to John William and Sadie C. Beezley Scott. She was married on May 12, 1941, in Pierceton, to Hollis F. Earnhart, who preceded her on July 28, 1983.

Wendell G. “Tony” LaFevor, 78, Warsaw, died Nov. 8, 2016, at his home.  He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Fort Wayne, to Louis and Laura Fritz LaFevor.  Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Wawasee Girls Show Defensive Intensity In Loss At Westview

Wawasee displayed plenty of intensity — especially on the defensive end of the court — in falling 37-36 in girls basketball Friday at Westview. The visitors led 34-28 with 2:22 to play following a pair of free throws by Aubrey Schmeltz and were still up 36-31 with 30.2 seconds to go after Aubrey Kuhn made one free throw then saw Westview rally for a home victory.

Local Player Transforms Over Time From Dabbler To Competitior

Grace College’s Dr. Darrell Johnson wasn’t always a serious golfer. But over the last two summers he, along with this son Scott of Fort Wayne, has become quite successful playing events on The Golf Channel’s AM Tour over the past two seasons. Darrell won six times and Scott nine over the summer of 2016, and each has qualified twice for the national tournament, held in Palm Springs, Calif. in 2015 and Tampa, Fla. this year.
