Michael A. "Mike" Baumgartner, 67, Syracuse, passed away Nov. 16, 2016, at his home. He was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Goshen, to Richard Earl and Marjorie J. Miller Baumgartner. He graduated in 1967 from New Paris High School and was a United States Navy veteran. He grew up in Syracuse and lived in Alaska and Oregon for several years before returning to the Syracuse area in the 1990s. He was formerly employed with a logging company in Alaska for 20-plus years and Sudlow Pier Shop in Syracuse for eight years. He was a former member of American Legion Post 223, Syracuse. He is survived by a sister, Judy (spouse Dennis) Sharp, Milford; a brother, Jack Baumgartner, Syracuse; a niece, Marjorie Parker-Slusser; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Cassidy Parker and Kailer Slusser.
Donald G. "Don" Matson, 70, passed away at 11:31 a.m. Nov. 15, 2016, at Reid Hospital, Richmond. He was born Dec. 28, 1945, in East Chicago, to George and Ann E. Hora Matson.
Brent Wells Silveus, 62, passed away from lung cancer on Nov. 8, 2016. In his final hours, he was comforted by his wife, Kimber, at his Denver Hospice bedside. Brent was born in Warsaw on Jan. 16, 1954. He grew up in the family home on Winona Lake. As a child, he liked to play in the sand pile at the lake side, water ski and spend time outside with neighborhood kids. He had a drum set in the basement, providing a musical outlet that continued into his high school years.
