Plea Entered In Etna Green Bank Robbery

A Leesburg man submitted a plea agreement in Kosciusko Circuit Court Friday, admitting his role in an April bank robbery. Rocky L.Lozano, 23, of 4669 E.Armstrong Road, Leesburg, submitted the plea agreement and could spend up to 20 years in prison for one felony count of armed robbery.In the deal, Lozano admits his part in the April 25 robbery of the Etna Green branch of National City Bank. If the agreement is approved by Judge Rex Reed, the prosecutor will not file habitual offender charges against Lozano, who has at least four previous offenses on his record, including burglary and theft. Lozano will be sentenced July 13. Three other people face charges related to the April robbery.Michael Angel Islas Jr., 21, of 947 E.Sheridan St., Warsaw; Logan Alan Greene, 26, of 1623 E.Main St., Warsaw; and Ashley Ann King, 21, of 1835 Sharon St., Warsaw, each were arrested shortly after the robbery occurred April 25.

Jefferson Twp. Police Chase Ends In Crash, Arrest

An early-morning police chase ended when the suspect crashed the vehicle he was driving near Gravelton in Jefferson Township, just south of the Elkhart County line.The pickup involved was allegedly stolen from the Sellers Lake area. The incident began about 3:47 a.m.today when a Warsaw police officer saw a pickup parked along U.S.30 at CR 500W with no lights on.Ptl.Brian Hupp shined a light into the vehicle and saw there was someone inside, so he stopped to check on the driver. Hupp had been looking for a semi tractor/trailer whose driver was to be notified to return to Fort Wayne.He was following a rig that matched the description when he was told to disregard that matter.He then encountered the pickup.

7 Arrested On Drug Charges

An investigation into the theft of a gun led to the arrest of seven people on drug charges. Gabriel Chavez Romero, 35, of 3104 E.Wooster Road Lot 31, Pierceton, and Baltazar Madrigal Mora, 47, same address, were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, a Class C felony, and possession of stolen property, a Class D felony, according to a Kosciusko County Special Operations Team Drug Task Force press release. Others arrested included: Maria Torres-Garcia, 32; Miguel Quiroz-Garcia, 40; Jose Garcia Olivera, 19; and Luis Quiroz-Torres, 22, all illegal aliens from Mexico; and Vincente Muniz, 20, of 2441 W.CR 250S Lot 35, Warsaw.

Cop Cars Crash After Arrest

SIDNEY - Two officers were injured Wednesday afternoon in a three-squad car collision while officers were searching for a auto theft suspect. Kosciusko County Sheriff's deputy John D.Ayres, 29, was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital for head injuries and released.Indiana State Trooper Alan Lehman, 25, was also treated at KCH and released. All three police cars were damaged, with damage to Ayres' car estimated at $5,000 to $10,000.Damage reports for the other two squad cars were unavailable this morning. The accident occurred at 4:16 p.m.Wednesday on CR 400E, 350 feet north of CR 1000S, near Sidney. The officers were in the area searching for a suspect who stole a pickup earlier in the day from Mount Pleasant, Mich.The pickup was found in an accident on Ind.14, and the driver fled the scene on foot, heading north near CR 400E.
