BOURBON — Martha Lois Carl Edmonds, 88, Plymouth, formerly of rural Argos, passed away Dec. 31, 2016, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, with her family at her side.  She was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Tippecanoe, to William G. and Edith Gantz Carl. On Sept. 4, 1949, she joined in marriage to Max Edmonds in Lapel. He passed away Aug. 5, 2015.  She has been a resident of Argo

Teresa L. Honeycutt, 61, rural Akron, died at 4:50 a.m. Jan. 1, 2017, at her residence after being in failing health for six months She was born Sept. 25, 1955, in Paintsville, Ky., to Willis Roby and Ellen Arlene Murry Fairchild. On Sept. 23, 1972, in Paintsville, she married Billy R. Honeycutt. He survives.

Kimberly Ruth Conrad

MILFORD — Kimberly Ruth Conrad, 61, Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly, together with her son, Stephen Thurlow Conrad II, on Dec. 25, 2016, as the result of an automobile accident.  She was born on Jan. 22, 1955, in Joliet, Ill., to Kenneth and Ruth Webster. On June 11, 1977, she married Steve Conrad in Chicago, Ill.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Arts from Ball State Universit

Fred “Butch” Boggs

Fred “Butch” Boggs passed away peacefully in the early morning of Jan. 1, 2017, surrounded by family at his home in Warsaw. Butch was born in Warsaw on Feb. 8, 1961, to Ron and Judy Anderson. He graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1979.  He was a career mechanic, small business owner and hall of fame race car driver who loved his family, friends and community dearly.  He was a devout husband of 33 years to Tonya Bays Boggs,  whom he loved to vacation with in the mountains of Tennessee.

Classmates and friends of the Mentone class of 1957 gathered for lunch Dec. 7 at the Red Apple House of Pancakes, Warsaw.

BOURBON — Candace J. Hedington 79, a faithful servant of God, has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 29, 2016, at home. She was surrounded by her husband, Delbert; her children; and her loving dog, Susie. She had been ill the past few months. She was born Jan. 31, 1937, at Etna Green, to Harley “Hod” and Lela Fern Taylor Mellott. She was a lifelong resident and attended Etna Green High School. She retired in 2001 from Kinder’s Manufacturing, Warsaw. She also was a Red Hat Lady and a member of the Thimble Club of Etna Green, and attended Warsaw Community Church.

NORTH MANCHESTER — Madene M. Simpson, 85, Wabash, formerly of North Manchester, died at 7:45 a.m. Dec. 28, 2016, in Miller’s Merry ?Manor East, Wabash. She was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Greensburg, Ky., to Burble H. and Della M. Wright Simpson. A private service is planned.

Lady Vikings Split Games; Finish Third At Hall Of Fame Classic

Treating the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic like a regional, and using it as a measuring stick, Class 3A No. 7 Tippecanoe Valley split a pair of games Thursday at Chrysler Fieldhouse in New Castle. In action for the first time in two weeks, the Lady Vikings fell 67-58 to 3A No. 1 North Harrison in a semifinal game, but came back after only a few hours rest to beat Plainfield 51-36 in the consolation game of the prestigious four-team tournament. Greenfield-Central, a 48-46 winner over Plainfield in the tourney's first semifinal, beat undefeated North Harrison 61-37 in the championship game. With a hectic schedule of travel and competition, Valley is playing two games today in the Lakeland Tournament today.
