Larry K. Engle, 75, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, in his Warsaw home.  Larry was born June 17, 1941, in Warsaw, to Willis Issac and Margaret Viola Bright Engle. He graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1959.

COLUMBIA CITY — Mason Phonsavanh, 31, Fort Wayne, formerly of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, on the trails of Winona Lake.  Born Oct. 30, 1985, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, he was the son of Deng “Dan” and Lorraine Moog Phonsavanh. He grew up in Fort Wayne and Columbia City. As a boy he enjoyed riding his bike, fishing with his grandpa, playing video games, being with friends and camping. Following being homeschooled, Mason graduated with a bachelor’s degree in network management from Indiana Tech. During college, he drove for Home City Ice and would enjoy the times when his dad would ride along with him during his routes.

Strobel, Defense Lead Squires Past Vikings

AKRON – Manchester High School sophomore Grant Strobel isn’t a flame-throwing pitcher, but he threw strikes Monday evening and his defense took care of the rest. In a 4-0 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory at Tippecanoe Valley, Strobel was in command as he pitched seven innings and gave up just four hits. He struck out five and didn’t issue a walk.

Monte L. Florey, 70, passed away at 7:18 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation, Warsaw.  Monte was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Rochester, to Charles and Geneva Madeford Florey. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1966. On June 19, 1994, he was married to Mary Drudge Randall in Warsaw. She survives after sharing 22 years together.
