Marilyn Kay Wright Grindle

SYRACUSE — Marilyn Kay Wright Grindle, 79, formerly of North Webster, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017.  She was born to Clarence and Anna Baumgarten Wright on April 9, 1938. She married Theodore Grindle on June 3, 1956. They had five girls in three years, including two sets of twins: Debra (Mitch) Day, Gay Grindle (deceased), Kim Hershberger (deceased), Jan (Ted) McMurtrey and Jill Grindle. We were the apples of her eye — until grandchildren came along. Then we watched her heart grow tenfold as each one arrived: Amie Koontz, Melissa Koontz-Garboden, Krista Oldenburg, Megan Smeltzer, Andrew Hershberger, Sara Warnke, Sasha Byrd-Long, Amanda Bogue, Diana Buxton, Eric Allen, Adam Loftis and Taylor Loftis.

The town council Monday approved a plan to repave some of the streets in the town.

Tippecanoe Valley Names New High School Principal

During its meeting Monday, the Tippecanoe Valley School Board unanimously approved Chad Cripe as the new principal at the high school. Cripe replaces Dr. Michael Bendicsen, who resigned in May to accept an administrative position with Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Shirley A. Williams

MARION — Shirley A. Williams, 88, passed away July 6, 2017, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, in the care of the wonderful staff of Peabody’s Memory Support Unit.  Shirley was born July 7, 1928, in Goshen, to H. Donald and Jeannette Kostanzer Crisler. Shirley grew up in her family home on Spencer Avenue in Marion. She attended DePauw University, Greencastle, where she was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.  After graduating, Shirley worked for American Airlines as a flight attendant based out of Dallas, Texas, and then as the teen program director for the Marion YWCA.

Marie Graham

Marie Graham passed away peacefully at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, in Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, at the age of 99. Ora “Marie” was born in Nappanee  on April 10, 1918, to Ray and Grace Johnson Young and was a 1936 graduate of Bourbon High School. She was married and widowed three times: Jesse Fulmer from 1942-1958, Roy Shand from 1969-1981 and Earl Graham from 1989-2005. Marie was an assembler for General Electric, retiring in 1978 after 30 years in their employment. She lived all her years in the larger Warsaw-Fort Wayne communities and was a resident of Grace Village Retirement Community for the past eight years.

Roy F. Bradbury

Roy F. Bradbury passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, in the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was 81. One of five children born to Howard and Hazel Wright Bradbury, Roy was born Feb. 17, 1936, in Atwood. He attended Atwood High School. He and Jean Moore Corson were married Feb. 14, 1992, in Warsaw.

Darrell Grisamer

Darrell Grisamer, 83, Syracuse, passed away July 7, 2017, at Goshen Hospital.  He was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Sturgis, Mich. On July 3, 1976, he married Shirley Grisamer, who preceded him in 2004. He served in the U.S. Army 182nd “Rakasan” Airborne Division during the Korean conflict. He was a lifelong area resident. He retired as a NIPSCO lineman. He was a member of North Webster Church of God.  He is survived by his children: Daretta Engh, Greenfield; Drenna (Jerry) Dean, Hawaii; Daralea (Kraig) Kailey, Kokomo; Darren Grisamer, Avon; Tina (Robert) Kocher, Syracuse; Teresa (Dennis) Linville, Mishawaka; and Tony Searfoss, Florida; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his companion, Delores Neff, Wakarusa.  Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Eastlund Funeral Home.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Syracuse Cemetery with military honors.  ***** Memorials to North Webster Church of God.

Bruce E. Pottenger

NORTH MANCHESTER — Bruce E. Pottenger,  86, North Manchester, died at 12:20 p.m. July 8, 2017, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. He was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Sidney, to Glenn and Nellie Speicher Pottenger. He married Marilyn Wood on July 26, 1952. She survives. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951-1959. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with calling one hour prior, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Calling will also be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. ***** Memorials to Congregational Christian Church, 310 N.
