Motorists can expect to see plenty more construction on area highways in the next few years – including nine projects on U.S. 30 – as more money for road work becomes available.
PIERCETON — Marvin L. “Bubba” Hartley, 81, Pierceton, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday July 18, 2017, in his residence. He was born Jan. 23, 1936, to Wallace and Margaret Henry Hartley in Portland. Marvin served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1958. He was an ammunition supply specialist. On Sept. 5, 1970, he married Thelma Farmer in Middletown. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton, and American Legion Post 253, North Webster. He has been in Kosciusko County since 1985.
WINONA LAKE – There are athletic events popping up around the world designed to challenge athletes not only physically, but mentally. The inaugural Lake Games, set for July 29-30 on and around the Grace College campus, will feature five such events.
Most of Monday’s nearly two-hour Warsaw Code Enforcement hearing was spent discussing The Economy Inn, 3521 Lake City Highway, and whether it should be demolished or repaired.
Warsaw city officials floated the idea of adding more seating in certain high traffic areas along downtown sidewalks, but the initial response from some, including the mayor, appeared to be tepid.
