Barbara C. Wood, 74, Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly July 24, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Barbara was born May 12, 1943, at home in White County to Walter and Lucille Hines. She graduated from Rochester High School and retired from Warsaw Community High School. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She found great joy in doing for others. She was a fan of horse racing and I.U. basketball. She loved to read and create beautiful hand-embroidered keepsakes for family and friends. She attended New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, Warsaw. She is survived by a daughter, Melinda (husband Steve) Zorn, Warsaw; and a brother Dale (wife Georgia) Hines, Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lucille Hines. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, 3651 N. Detroit St., Warsaw. Richard Gene “Dick” Hyde, 82, a longtime Osage/Park Rapids, Minn., area resident, formerly of Warsaw, peacefully entered eternity at his home in Park Rapids on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Dick was born April 20, 1935, in Warsaw, to Walter and Irene Holloway Hyde. He attended public schools and grew into manhood in Warsaw, where he graduated from high school with the class of 1953. Dick then went on to attend business college in South Bend to prepare himself for his life’s work. On Feb. 6, 1954, he was united in marriage to Barbara Faye Grubbs in Warsaw. This union was blessed with four children: Robin, Bob, Molly and Roger.

The Rev. Richard L. McGlynn, 73, Warsaw, passed away peacefully after an extended illness at 8:52 a.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, in his residence. He was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Hartford City, to the Rev. Vincent and Emily S. Pierson McGlynn. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother and grandfather who everyone knew they could call upon anytime day or night, especially for prayer. He has been a Warsaw resident since 1966.

NORTH WEBSTER — Danny F. "Dan" Somers, 56, North Webster, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at I.U. Health Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born Aug. 1, 1960, in Fort Wayne, to Danny A. “Jap” and Marie H. “Tiger” Somers. He graduated in 1978 from Wawasee High School, Syracuse; attended Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne; and moved to the Syracuse/North Webster area in the early 1970s from Fort Wayne.
David A. Creighton, 74, Warsaw and Green Valley, Ariz., passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, July 22, 2017. Dave was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Warsaw, to Russell and Helen Creighton. He is a graduate of Atwood High School and Indiana Central University (University of Indianapolis). He received his master’s degree from Ball State University. Dave began his more than 20-year teaching career at Beaver Dam Schools, moved to Tippecanoe Valley Schools, and finally to Warsaw Community School Corp. Over the years, Dave taught and coached. He started sports programs, drove the team bus when needed and even taught hundreds of students to drive. While he was teaching, Dave became a licensed Realtor. In 1981 he opened Dave Creighton Realty, where he was owner/broker. Dave later became a Realty World owner/broker, eventually selling his business to ReMax. Dave served on the Kosciusko County Board of Realtors and was honored to be named Realtor of the Year. Throughout his life, Dave was active in the Warsaw community. He was in Optimist Club. He brought Junior Achievement and his business expertise to students in Warsaw schools. In retirement, Dave enjoyed tennis, golf, pickleball, travel, hiking and, especially, his grandchildren. Dave and Mary Ann Steenhausen, his wife of 36 years, lived in Warsaw in the summer and wintered in Green Valley. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Ann; his three children: David Creighton, Atlanta, Ga.; Brandon (spouse Rachelle) Creighton, Warsaw; and Tara Creighton, Winona Lake; and his stepson Richie (spouse Cyndie) Robison, La Jolla, Calif. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Shelly, Brady and Landon Creighton and Harley and Sawyer Robison. Dave leaves his siblings Gale Creighton, Robert Creighton and Marilyn Creighton Dorsey. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Creighton Snyder and Evelyn Creighton Tinkey. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, in Atwood Otterbein Methodist Church, with Pastor Jim Lawson officiating.
