MENTONE — Frank J. Layne, 89, Burket, died Dec. 7, 2016 at his residence. He was born June 1, 1927, in Phelps, Ky., to Orville and Clemtine Hurley Layne. On May 12, 1947, in Pikeville, Ky.,  he married Gladys M. Blankenship, who passed away Aug. 19, 2004. He was a mechanic for several area General Motors dealerships. In years past he enjoyed socializing with friends. Survivors include a daughter, Lechia (husband Joe) Manns, Claypool; a son, Freelin Layne, Claypool; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Gladys M. Layne; a daughter; Edna Presley; a sister; and four brothers. No services are planned. A remembrance place will be at Palestine Cemetery.   King Memorial Home, Mentone, was entrusted with arrangements. ***** Memorials to the donor’s charity of choice.
