Six Seniors To Lead Lady Lancers Volleyball This Season

After battling through a myriad of injuries last year, Grace College’s volleyball team is excited to welcome in the 2017 campaign. The Lady Lancers field an experienced roster, led by six seniors who are primed to end their careers on a high note. Grace’s senior class of Kari Feddema, Tori Bontrager, Sara Miller, Naarah Foster, Sierra Smith and Savannah Hart enjoyed a national tournament during their freshman season. They have plans to return to nationals in 2017 and are armed with the big-game experience to back up those dreams. Third-year head coach Katie Van Hofwegen maintained that the senior class was “essential” to the team’s success. “They’ve all had significant roles the past few years. We will look to them for leadership, to set an example for the rest of the team and to invest in the underclassmen. They are wholly invested, and they want to go out on top.”

Friday Night Football Will Disappear, Unless...

There’s something about Friday nights and high school football that seem just so darn American. The air that gets cooler and more crisp as the season rolls along, the marching bands and cheerleaders, and trees changing colors to provide a great backdrop. What’s not to love about it? But make no mistake, Friday nights on the gridiron are disappearing, and sooner than anyone really wants to talk about.   How is this possible? Because it’s getting harder and harder to find men and women who are willing to wear the black and white striped shirts of an official. And it gets worse. It’s not just football refs; there’s a growing shortage of officials in all sports, not just in out little corner of the world, but across the nation.
