10 Years Ago September 25 1999 Thirty-one individuals competed in the final round of the Cardinal Center Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shoot Out. The final round of competition was held recently at Stonehenge Golf Club. Fox 28 sportscaster Dean Huppert won the event after landing his tee shot less than 13 feet from the hole. Leesburg's Tim Whiteman came in second, landing his ball just over 19 feet from the hole. 25 Years Ago September 25 1984 Occupational therapy has been added to the list of services provided by Home Health Care Services of Kosciusko County Inc., according to an announcement by Robert Blauvelt, executive director. Julie Hradel and Mickey Lavey, both registered occupational therapists, joined the staff part time to help implement this new program. 50 Years Ago September 25 1959 Open House will be held for the just completed Lincoln Elementary School, at the corner of East Main (extended) and Lincoln streets. The building, designed by D. H. Lessig Engineers, of Warsaw, is modern in every respect and meets the present need to relieve overcrowded conditions at East Ward and East Wayne schools. There are 204 students enrolled at the school. Lincoln Principal is Floyd Hollar and Superintendent of Warsaw Community schools is Carl Burt. 75 Years Ago September 25 1934 The Wayne Township community canning center will be opened in the kitchens of the First Presbyterian Church with Mrs. Nellie Arnold in charge of women's work. From the governor's commission of unemployment relief, L. J. Considine, case work supervisor, has secured complete canning equipment, including two pressure cookers and two automatic sealers. At first 3,500 quart cans and 500 pint cans are being used. The first canning is being made of apples to be followed by beans, tomatoes, corn and beets. Labor is being volunteered and also, women on the relief rolls are helping with the canning.
