Warsaw Boys Wins Second Argos Soccer Sectional Title

ARGOS - Warsaw's boys soccer team is known for having a strong, potent offense.In the Argos Sectional final Saturday night, the Tigers showed their offensive skills and picked up a 3-0 victory over Culver Military Academy to capture their second straight sectional title. Within the first five minutes of the game Saturday, Warsaw already had three shots on goal. However, the CMA goal keeper held off the Warsaw charge until the 24:40 mark of the game.That's when Tiger sophomore Austin Evans kicked a pass from Jake Rogers into the Eagle goal. While Warsaw outshot CMA 9-6 in the first half and had five shots on goal to CMA's two in the first half, the Tigers held just a 1-0 lead after the first half of play. However, that changed quickly in the second half. At the 45:16 mark, a CMA foul led to a Warsaw penalty kick.Tiger junior Bryan Kolbe then converted the penalty kick into a goal to put Warsaw up 2-0.

MISHAWAKA – After struggling to get its offense on track, Grace’s baseball bats sparked to life against Bethel on Tuesday.The Lancers had not topped two runs in a game for seven straight contests entering Tuesday’s doubleheader. But Grace snapped that streak with a split against the Pilots (8-18, 5-5 Crossroads League), winning 11-8 in the opener and falling 1-0 in extra innings during the second game.

School Officials, PTO Discuss Safety Issues

"I don't think you can pick up a magazine or newspaper that doesn't have something in it about high school safety," said Warsaw Community High School Principal Paul Crousore Monday at the WCHS PTO meeting. Crousore was part of a panel discussion on safe and secure schools.He was joined by Warsaw Police Chief and Warsaw schools safety director Steve Foster, WCHS School Resource Officer Dave Morales, and WCHS administrator Troy Akers, teacher Tom Starkweather and junior Adam Beck. Foster began the panel discussion by telling the 25 PTO members attending that he has been working with Warsaw schools for more than a year.He deals with the security of facilities and helps with resources and training.He goes over the crisis plans for each school; what may be applicable for the high school may not be for an elementary.
