- Declaration Of Independence - Rehabilitating Criminals - Jail Ministry - Fair Entertainment Declaration Of Independence Editor, Times-Union: At 81 years of age, I am looking forward to voting in the fall election.Just before the Fourth, I read again the Declaration of Independence in a magazine which I receive.A warm glow came to heart and mind as I read "All men are created equal ... are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights ... among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
- Good Samaritan - Response To Secession - Hunting And Farming - DNR Information Good Samaritan Editor, Times-Union: I would like to thank the wonderful man who plowed out my driveway on Sunday, Jan.23.Saturday evening the strong winds and the snowplows that were cleaning my road had closed the end of my driveway up pretty tight. Having asthma, I knew I wouldn't be able to shovel it out.Usually I can just drive my car back and forth and flatten it out with tire tracks, but it was just too full this time.So Sunday morning I was sitting in my living room praying to God that he would make the sunshine melt the snow before I had to leave for work Monday morning.
- Jeffords Switch - Small World - Singspiration - City Of Lakes Parade - Found Glasses - Patients' Rights Jeffords Switch Editor, Times-Union: I was impressed to read a reply to my former Letter to the Editor from a Matt Perry of New Orleans, La.I didn't realize the Times-Union had such far-reaching influence. - Praying For America - IPFW In Warsaw, Too - Let Kids Be Kids - Also Tired Of ... Praying For America Editor, Times-Union: We are praying for America because of the national sin of abortion, especially on this infamous day marking 30 years of murdering our weakest citizens. While our federal government has legalized selective murder at home, it goes about to unseat Saddam Hussein who has murdered his own citizens. Is not America's slaughter of babies the worse crime? It is said that abortion should remain safe and legal.Where is the safety for the little boy or girl? And who made it legal but unjust judges.
- Paving Problems - Child Support - 'Corpus Christi' Paving Problems Editor, Times-Union: I read with great interest the letter published on 7/30 from a Mr.Jim R.Smith.His letter expressed his chagrin that the same day his complaint letter regarding the paving problems in his neighborhood was published, the paving was repaired by Rod Ladson and the Kosciusko County Highway Department. I wish that I could complain of the same, unfortunately this is the second letter to the editor I have been compelled to write regarding the atrocious piece of asphalt that the highway dept.calls a paved road rounding the bend of CR 200N by Biomet and JD Byrider.
- Zoning Board - Customer Service - Life's Meaning - Bible Translation - Old-Fashioned Manners Zoning Board Editor, Times-Union: I recently learned that the Board of Zoning Appeals has granted a developer the right to build condominiums on Lake Wawasee. While I have no objection to their right to build these condos, I want the BZA to explain to the citizens of Kosciusko County why they granted permission to build within 20 feet of the lake shore, while all other owners must meet a 35-foot setback.
- Leave It Eastern - White Sox Super - School Budget - Outstanding Citizen Leave It Eastern Editor, Times-Union: What a mess. What an issue that would separate friends and neighbors and divide the state county by county.I think that the only logical thing to do is to stop and realize that we were all in the Eastern time zone - except 10 counties - for nearly 40 years. The counties have prospered and progressed in the Eastern zone and the only right thing to do is leave everyone together that have been together and not let any county switch time zones. The Central counties would continue to function in the time zone that they have been used to and the rest of us would all remain together and be in the Eastern Zone.
