Seven Trojans, Including Scarberry, Named To All-HNAC Football Team

Seven members of the Triton Trojan football team were named All-Hoosier North Athletic Conference team Monday morning. Head coach Ron Brown said conference coaches asked him if they could include Cameron Scarberry, who died in a car accident Sept. 17, on the squad. “It shows just how much class we have among the coaches in the HNAC,” Brown said. “They didn’t have to do that.”

Cold Shooting Hurts Triton In Season-Opening Loss

Triton did most everything right in its boys basketball season opener Wednesday against sectional rival Oregon-Davis. But the Trojans’ frigid shooting enabled the Bobcats to leave town with a 42-31 victory. The Trojans, with just three seniors on their roster, missed all 10 of their shots from the floor in the opening quarter, and were down 9-0 before sophomore Quentin Thornburg sunk a three-pointer with 6:20 to go in the first half. Midway through the second period Triton trailed 15-4. Warsaw transfer Ross Johnson scored the last eight points of the half and got the first bucket of the third quarter to cap a 10-0 run that pulled Triton to within one, but the cold shooting returned and the Bobcats methodically pulled away

Douglas A. Hoffer, 81, Warsaw, passed away at 3:18 p.m. Nov. 19, 2017, in his residence. On Dec. 12, 1935, in Clunette, he was born to John and Treva M. Martz Hoffer. He was united in marriage on June 11, 1975, to Felicia “Phyllis” Ruvo in Warsaw; she survives.
