James B. Long, 81, born March 12, 1937, to Harold and Dora A. Long, died in the arms of his loving wife and children on March 19, 2018, at home. Jim graduated from Geneva High School and then earned an aeronautical engineering degree from Purdue University as a member of Phi Delta Theta. He served in the U.S. Air Force, 34th Bomber Squadron (SAC), during the Cuban missile crisis. He was a commercial airline pilot with United Airlines for 32 years, retiring in 1997.
Mary K. Omstead, 84, North Manchester, died at 10:50 a.m. March 18, 2018, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. She was born July 16, 1933, in Columbus, to William Lucas and Kathryn Kinsel Lincoln. She married Harvey Omstead on April 2, 1984. He died March 2, 2006.
James Leon Frieden, 92, Silver Lake, died at 1:50 p.m. March 1, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Wabash County, to Henry W. and Anna Pearl Reed Frieden. He married Margaret Shenefield on Dec. 15, 1946. She survives. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Dec. 23, 1943, to May 23, 1946.
Edwin D. “Ed” Biesemeyer, 93, Silver Lake, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Warsaw Meadows. He was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Muncie, to Henry and Lillian Shroyer Biesemeyer. He grew up in Muncie, graduated from Muncie Central High School and was a United States Navy veteran. He was married to Elsie Meadows, who survives.
