Justice Building Security Ordinance Revised

The security ordinance that limited or prohibited deadly weapons, cell phones, recordings and food in the Justice Building was amended by the Kosciusko County Commissioners Tuesday, but still left concerns for a Warsaw man who questioned the constitutionality of it Tuesday and on Sept. 12.

Local Doctor Headed To Mississippi

Kosciusko Family Healthcare, P.C.announced today that Marilyn Whitney, M.D., Warsaw, will serve as clinical leader of the third medical team Indiana is sending to Mississippi as an official part of Operation Hoosier Relief.The Indiana State Department of Health and Indiana Department of Homeland Security sent Whitney through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact Indiana has with Mississippi.She left this morning and expects to be in the disaster area for approximately two weeks. Whitney is a family practice physician and partner of Kosciusko Family Healthcare.She has extensive training and experience in disaster response. Dr.Whitney was a member of the former Northeastern Indiana/Allen County Medical Response Team.Her disaster response experience includes working with a group serving the U.S.Virgin Islands after Hurricane Marilyn struck.

Report Calls Triton 'Stable'

BOURBON - Triton School Corp.'s feasibility report is in. The report, which examines the school's and community's long-term demographics, capital debt, school facilities and programs, says that Triton is a "stable" corporation that should easily handle a debt of up to $14 million for much-needed improvements. Improvements are recommended for both the junior-senior high and elementary school, though most suggestions are aimed at the upper level school. Infrastructure improvements suggested for the high school are: enhanced electrical work to support technology, updated security systems to better monitor the school's visitor flow and improved heating and ventilation systems.


Poe Reaches Halfway Point

Marine Corps Sgt. Jeffrey A. Poe, son of Lynnette M. and Allan B. Poe of Syracuse, and fellow Marines and sailors of 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Camp Lejeune, N.C., recently reached the halfway point in their deployment to Al Anbar province, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terror.

Local Doctor Helped Mississippians Recover

"The television just shows snippets of certain areas," said Dr.Michael Trobec of the wreckage left behind when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast Aug.29."You expect the trip to give you some insight, but it's so big, it's so complete, you can't grasp the devastation to the area." Trobec returned to Warsaw three days ago after spending eight days in Mississippi.Since he is relocating his practice from North Manchester to Warsaw, he had some time on his hands and volunteered his services to the citizens of Mississippi. The Federal Emergency Management Agency established a check distribution center in Brookhaven, Miss., and Trobec and several Fort Wayne physicians worked there first.

It seems really odd to me that a 15-year-old armed with a couple kitchen knives entered a Pennsylvania school and stabbed or slashed 22 people.
