Kesler's Return Helps Settle Tigers

The date was Oct.8, 1999, when Ross Kesler knew he had injured himself. The Warsaw senior athlete knew because he had injured his back two years earlier, and now he had injured it again after taking a hit in a football game against NorthWood. And, oh yeah, the pain told him. "I knew I had hurt myself pretty bad," Kesler said. Kesler fractured his back his sophomore year and refractured it again as a senior, in a different spot. The back injury kept Kesler out of sports for nine weeks, until he returned for the Dec.10 basketball game against Wawasee. After returning, the toughest part for Kesler, as it is for most athletes after an injury, was adjusting and trusting. The doctors told him his back was healed, but he needed to clear a mental hurdle, getting over the fear that banging around on the court would reinjure him.

- Flag Respect - Farmland Plan - Gun Laws - Deadly Weapons - Concert Thanks - ABATE Says Thanks - Firemen Say Thanks - Missing Dog ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ - Christmas Spirit Flag Respect Editor, Times-Union: It has been a while since I wrote an article. Some say the less you are involved the less you have to worry about. Today, I received a letter from The American Legion concerning our U.S.flag.I admit I, like most people, take too many things for granted.I also did not realize the problems concerning our flag. When I read the letter from the legion, it does upset me and makes me think back about things.

Why We Print What We Print

It is almost inconceivable to me that it will be another year before my next vacation. Why is it that vacations are so excruciatingly short? In the weeks prior to your vacation, time drags. That final Friday seems as if it will never arrive. Then, once vacation begins, time flies. Before you know it, it's over. You're back at work.Within two days, it feels as if you never left. While I was away, we got a couple calls and letters about our photo coverage of a mo-ped accident on U.S.30 near Atwood. The sentiment - albeit limited - was that the coverage was too graphic. One person even went so far as to say we shouldn't print accident photos at all. And one person said the only reason we print them is to sell papers. Please allow me to dispel that myth first. The old "you're just trying to sell newspapers" argument simply doesn't hold much water. The circulation varies very little based on what's on the front page. There are glaring exceptions.
