Planners OK 3 Plats For Residential Development

A preliminary and final plat approval was awarded Roy D.Swartz, owner of 1.397 acres on Austin Drive, by the Warsaw Plan Commission Tuesday. The board moved their meeting to 5:30 p.m.prior to the city council meeting. Swartz' land is zoned R-1/Residential and Tuesday's action subdivides the acreage into two single-family residential lots. The board also gave final approval of 18.25 acres in the Maple Hill Manor subdivision, owned by Paul and Susan Scheuer. The property along Rozella Road is undeveloped and zoned residential. Two of the lots in the five-lot residential subdivision, Lots 3 and 4, have been shifted to avoid a wetland area. This allows for the construction of a driveway back to the building site on Lot 4. A final plat also was given to 42 lots in Harrison Landing, a residential subdivision.

Remonstrators Crowd Plan Hearing Over Two Proposed Subdivisions

Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission took four hours to hear 11 cases -Êapproving seven, continuing two and denying two. That's because one case took an hour and another came close to an hour. A standing-room-only crowd of remonstrators against two petitions before the APC caused the meeting to be so long. The first petition was by Robert Barth Jr.to rezone 69 acres from an Agricultural District to a Residential District. The property is on the north side of Eight Square Road and east of CR 250E in Plain Township. It is in the Leesburg school district. Larry Lawler, representing Barth, said Barth wants to develop the area into a restricted sub-division.He also showed the APC a proposed plat of their intentions. In the first phase of the project, he said, there would be 11 lots.By the end of the second phase, there would be a total of 98 lots.No lot would be less than 20,000 square feet and roads would be asphalt with concrete curbs.

Farm Bill

Editor, Times-Union: Last Wednesday on the front page of the Times-Union there was an article titled “Indiana Senators Consider ‘Right-To-Farm’ Bill,” however, I believe a better caption would have been “Indiana Senators Consider ‘Right-To-Pollute’ Bill.” Basically, what this bill is trying to do is make it difficult for people to sue these profiteers for destroying their environment, consequently it is called a “Right To Farm Bill.”

Senate Debate

Editor, Times-Union:Wednesday  night, April 11, I watched the only debate between the Richards contesting one of Indiana’s two Senate seats. Basically, the whole affair was rather dull. In my view that was more a reflection on the Debate Commission rather than the two candidates.
