Fleeing The Scene

The driver of this truck was injured Monday morning when the truck left the roadway and rolled onto its side. The accident occurred on CR 800W, south of CR 100S. The truck was loaded with chickens, a few of which - including the one in the foreground - attempted to flee the scene. The chickens were rounded up by officers and passersby. Immigration, FBI Probe Suspects In Local Check Scheme

Local charges in an alleged check-kiting scheme are just the tip of the iceberg for two Egyptian men who also are being investigated by the immigration department and the FBI. Detective Lt.Steve Adang of the Warsaw Police Department said that complaints were received during the past two to three weeks about checks being written to businesses on overdrawn accounts, and that other complaints were being filed with local banks from businesses in Columbia City, Plymouth and Fort Wayne. Ahmed Ibrahim Hussien, 25, of 149 EMS C27 Lane, Warsaw, and Ahmed Hassan Marey, 25, of Pasadena, Calif., were taken into custody early Thursday morning at Indianapolis International Airport.WPD officers were aided in the apprehension by agents of the Department of Immigration and Natural Services and officers with the Indianapolis International Airport Police Department.

Milford Man In Jail for Stalking, Identity Deception

MILFORD - Trenton Lee Weisser, 27, Milford, was arrested for stalking and identity deception Tuesday evening after officers investigated a report of harassment and threatening phone calls.

Police Seek Public's Help In Battle Against Drug Use, Abuse

Once again, law enforcement is looking to the public for help in eradicating drugs in the county. As a way of getting the public involved, the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team - the county's drug task force - is providing a publicized chance for tips to be delivered for investigations. Dubbed the "Enough" campaign, information can be submitted to the drug task force by telephone, fax or mail using a form (pictured) which will periodically be printed in the Times-Union. The information can be given anonymously, but those who do reveal their identity to authorities can rest assured that their identity will be kept confidential. The drug task force first used this program in 1990 and renewed it in January 1999.The SPOT officers hope this round will bring additional information for investigations.
