Dorothy Lucille Gore,

GAS CITY — Dorothy Lucille Gore, 96, died Jan. 21, 2017, in Indianapolis.  Born May 23, 1920, in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna Deihl Russell, and she married Chester M. Gore in 1939. A very hard worker all of her life, she worked at several jobs and locations, including Deluxe Coil, B. Walters and Gore’s Nursing Home. She retired from Owens-Illinois/Kimble Glass and then worked at Penguin Point Drive-in in Warsaw until her 80s.  She is survived by her brother, Ron (spouse Dixie) Russell, Fairmount; daughter, Judith Engledow, Wabash; son, Steven (spouse Joan) Gore, Indianapolis; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives. She was preceded by her parents; husband; brother, Kenneth Russell; sister, Cleophia (Cecil “Buck”) Poulson; daughter, Lucinda “Cindy” Jane Gore; and son-in-law, Jack Engledow. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City. Billy Ray Wadkins

Billy Ray Wadkins, 66, Silver Lake, passed away at 7:01 a.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, in Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was born April 9, 1951, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to George and Alma Robinson Wadkins. On Sept. 28, 1968, he was united in marriage to Donna Gillman, who survives. He worked in the agriculture industry for Creighton Brothers, retiring in 2014.

Robert James Ruhlen

Robert James Ruhlen, 67, Sidney, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Peabody Retirement Community, where he was in physical rehabilitation. He was born Feb. 21, 1951, in Kenton, Ohio, a son of the late Richard and Marian Arnett Ruhlen. His formative years were spent in the Kenton area, where he graduated from Hardin High School, Kenton, in 1969.

James Edward Loser

James Edward Loser, 92, Leesburg, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in Leesburg.  He was born on April 17, 1925, to James Clifford and Cecilla Blanche Hatton Loser in Culver. James was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He moved to Warsaw, after serving his country, to help his father and brother Jack with the Indiana Motor Bus Company. The business was moved to Fort Wayne in 1971 and it became Summit Coaches in the 1980s. After his retirement, he started a The Old Pro Shop in Clunette.

John E. Hanish,

John E. Hanish, 81, Beaver Dam, Claypool, passed away at 3:08 p.m.  Friday, April 14, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.  He was born June 29, 1935, in Hammond, to Chuck and Myrtle Shavey Hanish. He married Dorothy Hoagland on Dec. 14, 1968, in Crown Point. He was an assembler for Ford Motor Co. in Chicago Heights, Ill., for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Beaver Dam and Loon Lake Conservation Club and an avid fisherman. He loved to hunt and enjoyed landscaping his yard. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Hanish, Beaver Dam, Claypool; five daughters: Sharon Prentice, Hobart; Roxanne (Mike) Collins, Woodleaf, N.C.; Minnie (Kevin) Trump, Warsaw; Melinda (Mark) Opachan, Honolulu, Hawaii; and Beth Ann (Mario) Valtierra, Lowell; three sons: Ray Hanish, Claypool; Ron Furst, Crown Point; and John (Rhonda) Hanish, Jasonville; a son-in-law, Troy Denton, Akron; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene McHugh, Valparaiso; and a brother, David Hanish, Hammond. He was preceded by a daughter,  Jennifer Hanish, July 18, 2016; and three brothers: Carl Hanish, Don Hanish and Kenneth Hanish. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Ridley Lee Brown

Ridley Lee Brown, 85, Warsaw, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Nov. 24, 2016, in Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. On May 26, 1931, he was born in Baxter, Tenn., to Ridley L. Sr. and Armentia Ritenbury Brown and stepmother Osca Davis. He was united in marriage to Jaunita Campbell on July 1, 1950, in Warsaw. In 1949, he came to the Warsaw area. He retired from Huffer Foundry, Warsaw, and was a member at God’s Highway to Heaven, Warsaw. He is survived by his two sons, Bob (spouse Tanya) Brown and John (spouse Rita) Brown, all of Warsaw; a sister, Marie (spouse Opris) Flatt, Baxter; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded by two sons, Jerry and Larry Brown; five sisters: Mamie Whitaker, Alice Whitaker, Ivy McBroom, Vergie Robinson and Eva Jackson; and a great-grandson, Griffin Douglas. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at God’s Highway to Heaven Church, Warsaw, with the Rev. Bob Brown and the Rev. Don Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Silver Lake. William N. “Bill” Bess

MILFORD — William N. “Bill” Bess, 81, Milford, passed away at 6:47 a.m. Jan. 30, 2017, at Elkhart General Hospital.  He was born Jan. 9, 1936, in Franklin, Ohio, to Raymond G. and Anna Imogene Colvin Bess.  He attended Milford High School and was a lifetime Milford area resident. He was first married to Virginia L. “Ginny” Coy, and then on April 10, 1987, in Milford, he married Marilyn L. DeCamp Kasten, who preceded him on Sept. 16, 2009.

Phillip L. Harden

Phillip L. Harden, 81, joined with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 11, 2017. He was surrounded by his family at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in South Bend, and graduated from Silver Lake School and Tri-State University. He was united in marriage with Velma Juday on Aug. 15, 1954. They were married 62 years. He worked at Bowmar Instrument Corp. for 15 years; founded and ran V H Electronics, Harden Industries and Harden Electric; and ran a large family farming operation before retiring. He was a member of Zanesville United Methodist Church since 1973. He loved his family, fishing, farming  and retreats in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Velma, Roanoke; a sister, Doris (spouse Milton) Bloom, Warsaw; a daughter, Sheryl (spouse Rick) Lee, Roanoke; sons, Jim (spouse Terri) Harden, Roanoke, and Ken (spouse Nancy) Harden, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren: Matt Wymer, Indianapolis; Lisa Wymer, Fort Wayne; Andy Harden, Georgia; Zane Harden, Roanoke; Glenn Harden, Zanesville; and Galen Harden, Virginia; and great-grandchildren, Gabe, Malakhi and Evelyn, Georgia. He was preceded by his parents, Phillip and Jennie Harden; and sister, Jackie Kerlin. Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Zanesville United Methodist Church and one hour prior to the funeral service at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Grace Bombs Purdue-NC Again

WINONA LAKE - The Grace College men's basketball team improved on its best start since its national championship season of 1992 with a 117-50 win over the Purdue-North Central Centaurs Tuesday in Lancer Gym. The Lancers have now beaten the Centaurs in back-to-back games, winning by a margin of 55.5 points each time. Grace ran out to a 16-0 lead and never looked back.The Lancers led 55-20 at the half and poured it on in the final 20 minutes.For the second straight game, Grace had all 13 players see action in the opening half, and all the subs played extensively. The Lancers were led by Bert McLaughlin with 19 points, while Darren Gagnon added 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks.As a team, Grace shot 59.5 percent from the field and 44 percent from the three-point line. Grace (6-0) heads to Illinois Saturday to play Blackburn College.
