NORTH MANCHESTER – The Three Rivers Conference girls basketball championship was on the line Saturday in North Manchester, even though both teams ended up winning it.Entering Saturday's road game in control of the TRC with a 5-1 mark, the Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings had a shot at the outright title, as Manchester, Wabash, and Rochester all sat at 4-2.

We went into this Olympics preparing to celebrate, and probably send off, the greatest Olympic gymnast we have ever seen. The last part of that last sentence gets your attention if you know me well, but I could not admit that the title of “greatest ever” could have been anyone but Mary Lou Retton. Wawasee Boys Move To NLC Finals

NAPPANEE -ÊWhen Wawasee boy's basketball coach Phil Mishler found out his team would face Northridge on Friday night in round two of the Northern Lakes Conference/Lake City Bank Holiday Tourney, he wasn't surprised. "Northridge is a very good team," said Mishler."They are a lot like us in that they have good strong post people and good perimeter people who can shoot." While the Raiders do have some similarities to the Warriors, they didn't have enough Friday night as Wawasee picked up a 56-44 win to put the Warriors into Saturday's final game. "We played really well tonight," said Mishler."Northridge gave us all we could handle.My hat is off to Coach Austin and his team on an excellent effort." For a while the game looked as though it might be a battle of the big men as early scoring came in the paint through much of the first quarter.

County Commissioners See Demonstrations Of Voting Machines From Two Companies

Two companies demonstrated their voting machines Tuesday to the Kosciusko County commissioners. After the presentations were over, the commissioners unanimously voted MicroVote General Corp., Indianapolis, as their first choice to work with on purchasing new voting equipment.If the county and MicroVote cannot come to an agreement, the commissioners will approach their second choice, Voting Technologies International, Milwaukee, Wis. Clerk of the Circuit Court Sharon Christner will meet with MicroVote and present cost estimates to the commissioners Dec.28.The commissioners hope to make their recommendation on the purchase to the county council at the council's Jan.13 meeting.
