Michigan City Man Arrested On Drug Charges

A Michigan City man was taken into custody at a Warsaw hotel early this morning after local police received a tip that the suspect in another county's drug case was possibly "hiding out" there. Wayne A.Anderson, 29, is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a LaPorte County warrant for possession of marijuana and theft/receiving stolen property.He also is being held for the Drug Enforcement Agency on a charge of trafficking methamphetamine. Officers with the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team learned about 3 a.m.today from the Goshen Drug Task Force that Anderson was supposedly at the Hampton Inn in Warsaw. The Kosciusko/Warsaw SWAT Team joined local and state police in taking Anderson into custody.Anderson was possibly armed and dangerous, according to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

Employee Suspected Of Stealing From Syracuse Wilby's Store

SYRACUSE - An internal theft by an employee of the Syracuse Wilby's store allegedly resulted in a significant amount of money being embezzled. The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and Syracuse Police Department are investigating the matter at the South Huntington Street business.Charges are expected against a 27-year-old woman. According to a KCSD report, the owner of the business contacted police after he noted irregularities in the store's reported activities.Discrepancies were discovered when the owner began an internal audit. The suspected employee reportedly entered the daily receipts into the books, with a larger amount noted for credit card purchases.She was allegedly taking the cash difference and the books appeared balanced. Police requested that the amount believed missing be kept confidential. The employee reportedly tendered her resignation when confronted about the matter by store officials.

Second Suspect Named In Throat Slashing Incident

SYRACUSE - The name of the second suspect involved in the throat-slitting of a Syracuse man has been released by police.Roger E. Johnson, 33, is being sought by police. The knife incident is this weeks' Crime Of The Week for the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
