Baber Guides Warsaw Tennis

When the Warsaw tennis team hits the court for its first match this season, there will be some new faces. On the sideline. Mike Baber, who was an assistant at Huntington College last year, has taken the helm as head coach at Warsaw this season.Baber graduated from Huntington College in 1998 and stayed in the community last year to coach the men's and women's tennis teams.Last year, Huntington's men's team received an at-large bid to nationals after finishing the season 19-3, while the women finished 6-7 in a rebuilding year. After coaching at the college level, Baber noticed differences in high school tennis.

Grisly Testimony, Evidence Stun Victim's Family

Sobbing could be heard among spectators this morning when two Kosciusko County Jail inmates testified that Christoval Dimas described to them last week how he and another man knocked Crystal Gayle Homister unconscious before raping her, shooting her, beheading her and setting her on fire. Tears also flowed freely among more than a dozen of Homister's relatives Wednesday while slides of the crime scene and the skeletal remains were shown in court. Some of the loved ones clung to each other for comfort or consolation while viewing the graphic depictions of the burned and decomposed skeleton.Homister's mother sobbed softly before leaving the courtroom.

The Tigers' offense cranked out two home runs and pitcher Kyler Mylin was steady to make up for four errors in a 5-4 comeback win over Northern Lakes Conference combatant Concord Friday afternoon at Tiger Field. Concord gained its first lead of the game in the sixth inning after Brandon Tepe reached on a throwing error by Mark Sudhoff.Jeremy Howard then reached on a successful sacrifice bunt.After Tepe scored on an error, Howard was brought home when Craig Downs perfectly executed a suicide squeeze bunt. Unfazed, the Tigers came right back and answered. Tyler Stouder led off the bottom of the sixth inning, his team down 4-2, with a majestic 360-foot home run to right-center field.
