Although there are no two plans alike from Alaska to Wyoming, sports in every state are still on the calendar at some point during the coming year.

Triton High School football has adopted a mantra for 2020. It’s “Get to Tomorrow.” “Hopefully we can get through all of them,” says 13th-year head coach Rodney Younis of the games on the IHSAA Class 1A Trojans’ schedule. “We want to make memories for these seniors.”

Warrior Coach Sees Experience, Improvement In Team

Jon Reutebuch looks to three main reasons he sees for improvement in his Wawasee High School football team in his second season as head coach. “We’re excited,” says Reutebuch, who takes his IHSAA Class 4A Warriors into the 2020 season open Friday at Lakeland in LaGrange. “We feel like we have improved line depth and play. That should help us improve on our record from last year (Wawasee went 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Northern Lakes Conference in 2019).

So, here we are. High school sports teams have started their season, generally. Football players have yet to play their first game, but pretty much everyone else has. But, as we expected, there are hiccups. Maconaquah Schools have told their kids to stay home and learn remotely after one family came down with COVID-19—three of them are students at the high school, another is a student at the middle school and their mom works in the cafeteria.
