The beginning of high school cross country season came Tuesday for Warsaw Community High School and other teams. While Jacob Kissling and Wini Barnett were again the top WCHS runners, the 2020 Warsaw Tiger Paul Sibray Invitational looked different than the 2019 version in other ways.

So the sports world was set aflutter last week when Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres violated a basic rule of human decency—or that’s the way it was portrayed in the milliseconds afterward. Here’s the background. The Padres were beating the Texas Rangers 10-3 in the eighth inning of a game last Monday. San Diego had loaded the bases and Tatis was facing a 3-0 count.

Eagle QBs Riddle Vikings In Valley’s Opening Loss

There’s an old football adage stating that if you think you have two quarterbacks, you probably don’t have any. Culver Academy appears as if it will be able to dispute the adage in 2020, and Tippecanoe Valley wound up in no position Friday night to argue otherwise about the Eagles. With junior Jimmy Pisani and sophomore Cooper Farrall splitting QB duties, Culver blanked the Vikings 16-0 in each team’s season opener at Smith-Bibler Memorial Field.

Tigers Win Opener Over Vikings

The Warsaw Tigers don’t circle certain games beyond the first week. They strive to go 1-0 each Friday night. Huntington North put forth an effort that exploited a special teams miscue, exploited some early tackling weaknesses, and took advantage of opportunities despite a huge disparity in time of possession. However, the Tigers offense continued its brutal efficiency from last year, powered by Aaron Greene’s three rushing touchdowns of 22, 70 and 54 yards to defeat their hosts 42-35.
