Warsaw Man Injured In Off-Road Accident

BURKET - A Warsaw man suffered a broken back in an off-road vehicle accident Saturday near Burket. David L.Prater, 37, of Oldfather Street, was riding a three-wheeler up an incline when the front tire of the vehicle went into a rut, causing the three-wheeler to overturn. According to a report fromthe Indiana Department of Conservation, Prater was thrown from the three-wheeler and the vehicle then rolled over on top of him. It was at first believed that Prater only suffered broken ribs, but later determined that he also had a broken back.He was transported from Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, to Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was listed in fair condition this morning.

Editor, Times-Union:When I rode my bike to the fairgrounds on the 16th of June, I was pleased to note that Smith Street was no longer under construction, and on the way back, I was thrilled to realize that I no longer had to pick my way to avoid pureeing my newly purchased tomatoes. It still feels odd not to see bumps where they used to be.
