Warsaw Kickers Get To Work In First Half

As people everywhere celebrated Labor Day weekend away from their jobs, Warsaw varsity soccer teams went to work Saturday - particularly in the first half. Hosting a doubleheader - the girls against Argos and the boys against Fort Wayne Snider - the Lady Tigers and Tigers built sizeable leads in the first 40 minutes and rode it to victory in their respective matches.

Tigers Get NLC Win Over Rockies

The Warsaw Tiger gridders traveled to The Rock Pile in Plymouth where the hosts held Senior Night in their season home opener. A quartet of Tiger seniors, Mason Martz, Colton Wampler (33 carries, 125 yards, 2 touchdowns and 4 extra-point kicks), Aaron Greene (2 TD runs, 51 yards rushing, 26 yards passing), and Caden Silveus (interception and a tackle for loss) had designs of their own Senior Night festivities resulting in a 28-14 win in one of the states oldest football rivalry matches.

Raider Defense Domnates In Win Over Wawasee

Coming off two straight shutout wins, the Wawasee football team was unable to overcome Northridge Friday night as they fell 20-0 to the visiting team. Although the Warrior defense showed the same unyielding resolve it had the first two weeks of the season, the offense was unable to put together any scoring drives against the stout Raider defense, which has given up no points on the year thus far.

Apaches Win Relocated Game Over Manchester

The Manchester Squires football team were set to face off against their county rival, Wabash, on Friday night at Alumni Field. The school unveiled through social media the new artificial turf being installed and video board a few days ago. However, it was not quite ready for a christening, so the venue was switched to Manchester Jr.-Sr. High School. The Apaches made themselves feel right at home.

The anticipation is high as Grace College’s men’s and women’s golf teams are readying for their first tournaments of 2020-21. The programs reached new heights last year, but the spring seasons were sadly wiped out due to COVID-19.
