"At the beginning of the season," said Whitko coach Rachelle McCammon, "we started taking baby steps and learning how to win." In a battle of area schools, Whitko kept taking its baby steps to defeat Wawasee 15-3, 15-8 in volleyball action Tuesday night. Whitko scored the first point of game one but then found itself behind 2-1 for several possessions.After several changes in possession, Whitko quickly took a 6-2 lead after nailing four straight points. However, Wawasee did not go down easily.The Warriors did not allow Whitko to score more than three points in a row for the rest of the game. Although the Warriors kept Whitko from scoring easily, Wawasee failed to score points and eventually fell 15-3. "Our girls showed poise and continued to play hard no matter what the score," said Wawasee coach Jason Fleming.
