10 Years AgoWallace Huffman was tricked into attending the Warsaw City Council meeting recently. His associates appealed to his sense of civic duty and he, of course, answered the call. He thought he would hear a police department presentation addressed to citizens during the council meeting. Instead, he was presented a City of Warsaw Citizens Award by Mayor Ernie Wiggins and Police Chief Steven Foster for his many years of service as a member of Kosciusko Emergency Radio. Huffman has been a KEMRAD member for 62 years.25 Years AgoThe community building on North Park Avenue that has housed the Baker Boy's Club, Warsaw Child Care Center and the United Way offices has been named the Pete Thorn Youth Center in honor of the man who was the Baker Boy's Club's first director in 1926. The Warsaw Common Council and Park Board named the building, which was built in 1980, after L.N. "Pete" Thorn, who was a star athlete at Wingate High School and Wabash College.50 Years AgoMiss Jean McDowell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. McDowell, Warsaw, is one of 15 semifinalists in the honorary cadet colonel contest at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. Identity of the winner will be revealed at the upcoming military ball. Jean is a freshman in sociology.75 Years Ago Douglas Douglas, graduate of Warsaw High School, who is now a junior at Hanover College, has been chosen president of the college Young Men's Christian Association for the year 1936-37. He will take office immediately.

Milford Man Arrested On Multiple Charges

Kosciusko County officers arrested a Milford man Thursday on multiple charges, including possession of meth.

Rollover Kills One Person, Injures Another

One person is dead and another injured after a single-car rollover accident early Friday evening near Etna Green. Police said the vehicle left ruts in a lot, crossed a road and came to rest on its roof at the base of a tree in the 6700 block of North CR 900W, about 5 miles north-northeast of the intersection of U.S. 30 and Ind. 19, or about a half-mile south of West CR 700N.
