Three suspects face charges in connection with multiple burglaries in the Wawasee/Marineland Gardens area. One man has been in custody since last week, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department detective, and warrants are expected with charges against the other two men. A search warrant was executed at the home of one of the suspects Monday, but no stolen items were recovered as anticipated by police. The string of burglaries began in November and the last residence in the investigation was reported broken into in February.The theft left individual victims with substantial monetary loss, police said.

Former County Clerk Sentenced In Theft

Restitution, a suspended jail term and counseling were ordered for a former Kosciusko County deputy clerk who admitted taking money from her employer. Jalaine Brumfield, 42, of 1403 Alpha Drive, Warsaw, was sentenced Friday in Kosciusko Superior Court I after admitting to a Class D felony charge of theft in August.She was arrested in July after it was learned that money was missing from the clerk's office, where Brumfield served as a deputy clerk, taking in fines for traffic tickets, among other duties.She resigned her position July 13.

Warsaw Woman Arrested In Internet Fraud Case

Complaints from more than 50 Ebay users across the country led to the arrest of a Warsaw woman on a warrant for theft. Nikki Brindle, of White Wolf Designs, 2603 E.Pine Drive, was arrested Monday for fraudulently selling high-priced electronics over the Internet, Kosciusko County Detective Todd Sautter said.She is being held on $5,000 bond. Reportedly, Brindle placed items for sale on Ebay, and after receiving payment, failed to send the item or issue a refund. Purchasers allegedly were told their items would come in seven to10 weeks, then when they never came, were told Brindle's supplier was back-ordered. Frustrated after waiting for items since early spring, some purchasers requested refunds and never got those, either.That's when the National White Collar Crime Center and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department became involved. The sheriff's department confiscated Brindle's computer and financial records and is investigating the complaints.

3rd Man Faces Theft Charges; Search Nets Allegedly Stolen Items

Police arrested a third man in connection with stolen construction tools and equipment and recovered more property at the man's residence. Ryan Lee Miller, 27, of 552 E.CR 300S, was arrested at 9:50 a.m.at his residence on prior charges of visiting a common nuisance. Theft charges are forthcoming, police said, after a search warrant was executed at Miller's home following his arrest. Patrol, investigative and drug task force officers searched the residence and seized tools and other allegedly stolen items. An arrest warrant was issued for Miller in late January on the nuisance charge. Police believe he is involved in burglaries to several construction sites.Arrested earlier on charges related to construction site burglaries were Mark and Brian Slone. Police recovered more than $60,000 in allegedly stolen items from the Slones' properties and have released tools and equipment to more than 20 victims. At least 12 more victims are scheduled to recover items.
